What Saudi yards buy from Britain

English saddlery still sets the standard for racing, endurance and schooling yards across the Kingdom. Saddles, bridles and rider protection from long-established UK makers are specified by name, and the yards buying them are usually buying for a whole string rather than a single horse.

The practical problem is access. Most UK saddlers sell through domestic retailers and have no export desk, so a Riyadh yard placing a direct order is starting a conversation the manufacturer is not set up for. That is the gap we sit in.

Heat, and what it changes

Rugs, coolers and fly protection specified for a British winter are the wrong products here. We work with makers on lighter mesh coolers, breathable fly sheets and ventilated boots that hold up through a Gulf summer.

Leather care is the other honest difference. Tack shipped into a hot, dry climate needs conditioning products in the same order it is a small line on the invoice and it protects an expensive saddle.

Routes and timelines

Sea freight into Jeddah Islamic Port or Dammam runs 20–28 days port to port. For a full yard order that is the sensible route.

Airfreight into RUH or JED lands in 4–6 days and is worth it for a fitted saddle, a competition deadline or replacement kit mid-season.

SABER and conformity

Most consumer goods entering Saudi Arabia need a SABER certificate of conformity. We arrange it with the manufacturer before shipping rather than discovering the requirement at clearance.

On a first order allow an extra two to three weeks while product registration completes. Second orders on the same lines move at normal speed.

Common questions

What is SABER certification?

SABER is Saudi Arabia's online conformity platform. Most consumer goods entering the Kingdom need a SABER certificate of conformity before they can clear customs. We arrange the certificate with the manufacturer before shipping rather than discovering the requirement at the border.

How long does it take to ship equestrian goods from the UK to Saudi Arabia?

Sea freight into Jeddah Islamic Port or Dammam runs 20–28 days port to port. Airfreight into Riyadh or Jeddah lands in 4–6 days. On a first order, allow an extra two to three weeks while SABER product registration completes.

Can British tack hold up in the Saudi climate?

Yes, with the right specification. We work with UK makers on lighter mesh coolers, breathable fly sheets and ventilated boots built for Gulf heat, and we include leather conditioning products in the same order to protect saddlery in a hot, dry climate.
